I went and looked up the snow total for the blizzard. It was only around 6 inches. It’s hard to imagine 6 inches of snow being that destructive now but back when kids walked to school and weren’t prepared for the weather…it was probably one of the worst things that could’ve happened.
The blizzard was preceded by a snowstorm on January 5 and 6, which dropped powdery snow on the northern and central plains, and was followed by an outbreak of brutally cold temperatures from January 7 to 11.

We had 2-3" of snow early yesterday with 40-45 mph winds. Had drifts across the road about 3’ deep.
