Bob Corker did something epic and historic. It was designed as a message to the Republican base to get the hell off the Trump train so that the majority of Republicans in Congress can take action on Trump and save the country from disaster. But then a funny thing happened, the center left media responded with a mix of snark, criticism of Corbin, or are otherwise treating this as just another point against Trump and have moved on. And of course Crickets on Fox news and all the other far right news circles.
Do you want to stop Trump? Not going to happen until his approvals drop below 30 percent. If every American read Corker’s “talking points” we would get there. I am providing a concise write up that extrapolates all the quotes from the article. Post on Facebook. Send viral emails. We need to stop WWIII.
Senator Bob Corker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, charged in a historic, recorded and on-the record 25 minute interview on Sunday October 9, 2017 that President Trump was treating his office like “a reality show,” with reckless threats toward other countries that could set the nation “on the path to World War III.”
In an extraordinary rebuke of a president of his own party, Mr. Corker said he was alarmed about a president who acts “like he’s doing ‘The Apprentice’ or something.”
“He concerns me,” Mr. Corker added. “He would have to concern anyone who cares about our nation.”
Mr. Trump poses such an acute risk, the senator said, that numerous administration officials must protect him from his own instincts. “I know for a fact that every single day at the White House, it’s a situation of trying to contain him.”
Mr. Corker said his concerns about Mr. Trump were shared by nearly every Senate Republican.
“Look, except for a few people, the vast majority of our caucus understands what we’re dealing with here,” he said, adding that “of course they understand the volatility that we’re dealing with and the tremendous amount of work that it takes by people around him to keep him in the middle of the road.”
Regarding the Presidents penchant for constantly lying, Corker said: “I don’t know why the president tweets out things that are not true,” he said. “You know he does it, everyone knows he does it, but he does.”
In a follow-up statement on Twitter Sunday, Corker responded to unhinged attacks on him that morning by Trump: “It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.”
This comes in the heels of confirmed reports that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called Trump a “F___ing moron.” Tillerson refused to deny his stunning rebuke of the President by his own Secretary of State when prompted to do so by reporters, and all but confirmed it by changing the subject. Corker essentially seconded the assessment by backing up Tillerson, telling reporters that Mr. Tillerson was one of three officials helping to “separate our country from chaos” caused by Trump.
It is also extremely notable that with the exception of the far-right extremist Tom Cotton, no Republican senators have disputed Corker’s assessment.
There is denying or no sugar coating this devastating condemnation of Trump by a top Republican Senator. Trump is a threat to our county and about 80 percent of the top REPUBLICANS in Washington who know the situation first hand agree. This is not opinion. This is simply a situation where the word is not getting out to Trump’s supporters, because they only get their news from Fox, Breitbart, and AM Talk Radio. Please share this far and wide.
