I do think that we will see more lower skilled jobs become eradicated. The people occupying many of those jobs now are illegals. So, if that makes their life more difficult and is less of a reason for them to stay here with all of their filth and disease - then I’m good with that. I know you disagree with my view on that, so no point in arguing it. I do see your point about job vs. career. No debate there.
However…whatever automated devices take away those jobs, they will still need to be maintained and repaired. You don’t just buy a car and never perform maintenance. If you do, you won’t have your car for very long. Companies also pay quality maintainers far more than they pay day laborers. This is even true in daily life. I just had new floors installed in my condo. I had to fire the first company off the job because a bunch of Mexicans showed up the first day, made a big mess, didn’t speak English, didn’t follow instructions, and improperly installed they first 10 feet of new flooring. Those guys were working jobs. I ended up calling the 2nd company I got a quote from. An old white guy owned the company and his son was the apprentice. They were 20% more expensive but they were clean, quiet, and fast. My floor looks awesome! They even moved all my furniture back and cleaned all of it. That’s a career. I’ve referred them to all of my neighbors on my floor and even the couple who lives below me who had to hear all the noise for two days.
I don’t appreciate being told how I think. What I think is a bunch of people are trying to push a new form of welfare that they will never have to pay for onto another group of people who don’t want anything to do with it and will get stuck paying for it.
Oh, and please tell me who has already decided this? I wasn’t part of that decision making. Neither was anyone I know. I don’t see any laws on the books about it. So who exactly is making the decisions that you claim have already been made?
