Firstly having the 2/3rds of the states allowing for a constitutional convention is not the same as a 3/4th vote for ratification of any amendment that might come from Congress or a constitutional convention.
I have long been angered by the abuses and ‘reinterpretations’ and precedents posted in direct contradiction to the most general reading of the Constitution. I have had this argument before over what the actual limits are of the National government in our Representative republic… To liberals (that is no longer the name they identify with)… progressives, the sky is the limit and states rights have no relevance… unless of course it is a republican controlled National government then the ‘progressives’ beam for independence and state sovereignty (as if the left even understand the word sovereignty)
Understand that this was the game being played by FDR and the left saw no problem with it. While to some degree judges were always acknowledged for having a bias, they were all picked for their love of and affirmation for, the US Constitution. It wasn’t until the era of Wilson and FDR that judges started to become weaponed because the lefts need to consolidate power required judges that would defer and demure rather than hold to a strict adherence to the supreme law of the land.
You see, obviously, the same problem from the opposite direction… because you define individual rights (and responsibilities) differently, you have a different set of values which, conveniently enough, are quite flexible, you see life and its relevance differently… you see pursuit of happiness differently. All of those things mean that you look at the words ‘American Emotionalism’ very differently and with a definition unrecognizable from mine. You see rights where there is no possibility of guarantee.
This I am afraid is because you don’t understand meritocracy (you have seen little of it in your life because it has been contorted and distorted by government)… and you don’t understand that for an awful lot of those ‘poorest of the poor’, standard of living is measured considerably differently than those whose only focus in life is keeping up with the Jones.
My wife knows that I will support her in any endeavor she chooses. The life choices WE that constrain or alter those choices are our own… we learned long ago where babies came from… and we acted accordingly… and we didn’t kill any one in the process…
