When Progressives Exploit School Shootings

I do understand that it was a general comment… I was just making clear my position. I’ve said before that we are a bit shy in recognizing sarcasm on here but that should not detract from the serious nature of the discussions. The left is playing a very serious game and they are playing to win… and compromising with them isn’t recognizing that if you do, you have lost a piece of our heritage…

What I find troubling from the left is the way they showboat school shooting and totally ignore the carnage that takes place in the city’s that control !
17 children and teachers is tragic but More than 100 wounded, 14 killed in Chicago over July 4th weekend is just the cost of living in a gun free zone !
The vast majority of the 762 murders and more than 4,000 shooting incidents in Chicago last year occurred in a few predominantly black and Latino neighborhoods on the city’s West and South Sides, and were driven by gang-related feuds and drug wars.https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2017/07/05/july-4th-weekend-shootings-chicago/452585001/

Now here is the kicker the children that go to school in thous dangerous neighborhoods are safer then the children that go to school in the more affluent schools !
Why you may ask good I will tell you in those dangerous neighborhoods schools are secure ! Entrances are guarded metal detectors are in place and students are talked with and bags are checked !

Had American politicians solved the problem instead of campaigning / fundraising on then how many kids and teachers would be alive today ?

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night’s town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a “scripted question,” quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards. (CNN response below.)

“CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted,” Haab told WPLG-TV.

CNN aired a town hall on the Florida school shooting with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) that included NRA’s Dana Loesch and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel that was moderated by Jake Tapper. Students and parents asked questions about gun control and school safety.

“I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions,” Haab said.

“Colton Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC who shielded classmates in the midst of terror says he did not get to share his experience,” WPLG’s Janine Stanwood explained.

“Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed school security guards but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead so he decided not to go,” Stanwood reported.

“CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted,” Haab said. “I don’t think that it’s going get anything accomplished. It’s not gonna ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students have.”

UPDATE: CNN released the following statement Thursday morning:

CNN did not, and does not, script any questions for town hall meetings, ever.

UPDATE @8:47AM ET: CNN released a more extensive statement that explained the situation.

In a longer statement, CNN confirmed Haab was invited by the network to participate but his father decided to withdraw his name from participation. CNN said Haab wanted to give an extensive speech and not just ask a question, something the network said the forum was not designed for. CNN noted the subject Haab wanted to address, arming teachers, was discussed at length in the 2-hour long town hall event.

CNN has invited Haab to appear on the network.

Full statement from CNN’s Richard Hudock:

There is absolutely no truth to this. CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night’s town hall, nor have we ever. After seeing an interview with Colton Haab, we invited him to participate in our town hall along with other students and administrators from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Colton’s father withdrew his name from participation before the forum began, which we regretted but respected. We welcome Colton to join us on CNN today to discuss his views on school safety.

According to a CNN insider Haab wanted to give an extensive speech and not just ask a question, something the network said the forum was not designed for. When the family was told this they decided to pull out of the event. The CNNer also noted the subject Haab wanted to address, arming teachers, was discussed at length in the 2-hour long town hall.

CNN in full retreat covering their lie.

The whole MSM is being exposed for the frauds they are !

#46

That should be obvious. People do that for various reasons, but they aren’t killing anyone else, that’s a vary personal act. There’s a big difference between that and mass murder.

#47

Nothing fraudulent, it just wasn’t the venue for a speech. Funny how you guys have been demonizing these kids, calling them liars, deceived and brainwashed. Then suddenly one is telling the truth lol. Maybe FAUX news got to him.

#48

Really makes you think.

#49

A gun is still used to kill. Lets have a Nationwide Ban on Gun Suicides.

#50

Lead the charge Freedom.

#51

Unfortunately half the country believes everything they say/print.

#52

We should ban crazy people.

#53

LouMan your right. We would be lucky to have 100 million people left.
Thank you Monte, I appreciate your wisdom.

#54

We are pretty aware of the anti gun narrative pushed by liberals… we are aware of the ‘abortion is a right’ narrative pushed by the left… we have seen demonstrably in both audio and video the many teachers that push the anti trump message in school. We see the efforts to change the entire subject of civics in school. We know that 6th grade girls are being fitted with IUDs without their parents knowledge or consent and at the end of the day, we know how impressionable most young people are. Yes they are being brainwashed on social issues and quit using the emotive word ‘Kids’ in one place and say that they are old enough to die in nefarious wars in another…

Your fucking rhetoric is sicking and killing our nations children the model that has proven to protect students and teachers is there and the left knows how to protect schools they have been doing just that for years in democratic controlled city’s !
The most dangerous city’s on earth and zero school shooting how the fuck do you hide that from the lemming that vote for your sick regressive socialist policy’s ?

#59

It does wear you out posting information that disproves the leftist mantra.

#60

Stop being so partisan, both parties have dropped the ball on all of this.

#61

You know what is slowly working it’s way into my feeble gray mass ?
Facts aren’t what they want the truth isn’t what they seek !
Their only goal is the complete disarming of the American citizen .
