Despite being under indictment, Menendez’s fellow senators have not shied away from appearing with him, and Thursday was no exception.
Booker embraced him as he walked into the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing room.
“Senator Menendez is an impact player,” Booker said later. “He has a big presence and I’m encouraged to see enthusiasm on both sides of the aisle as he’s here today.”
Then the committee chairman, U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., began the hearing by acknowledging Menendez’s presence.
“We’re glad to see you here,” Corker said.
